Close attunement to the weather and surroundings quiets the mind and allows creativity to flow. The process of working with sand and sea water on the beach under sunny, or overcast, skies is as important as the finished product. Sand and sea water are mixed, flowing over canvas to create images that can be washed away or built upon. Once a satisfying structure is generated, it is fixed to the canvas and allowed to dry in the sun. Back in the studio, painting adds another dimension to the work.
